Our students often come to WCTC with a wealth of college-level knowledge and skills. You may be eligible to earn credit for prior learning and apply those credits toward your degree program. You can earn prior learning credit through:
- Advanced high school classes
- Previous college coursework
- Self-study
- Military training
- Work or volunteer experience

Here are a few ways you can earn WCTC credit:
High School Dual Credit
Wisconsin high school students can take courses that count toward both high school and college requirements.
Transfer Credits from Other Colleges
Get WCTC credit for coursework completed at another accredited college or university.
Credit for National Exams
Earn WCTC credit by completing national exams including AP, IB, CLEP and DSST.
Credit for Industry Credentials
Earn WCTC credit for the industry credentials you have acquired through previous employment or education.
Credit for Life/Work Experience
Demonstrate the course-equivalent skills that you developed through work, volunteer, education, training or other life learning experiences.
Credit for Military Experience
You can earn credit for what you learned through courses completed and military occupations held during your service.
